My EVS experience – Ömer Cimcak

During August, i volunteered in Skopje and accumulated great memories. I learned the culture and language of Macedonia. I had the  to visit many museums and places of worship in different languages and religions. I had the opportunity to work with young people with disabilities in the center of Down Syndrome and in Zavod. It was a great experience for me. On my visit to Ohrid ,  a beautiful lake  and a very historic building welcomed me. Krik and i have done a lot of work . i thanked them for everything. I believe that we will shape our future with goodness.

My EVS experience – Fatih Berkay Sarpkaya

Hi, my name is Fatih. I am 20 and I am from Turkey. I study Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bilkent University, Ankara which is the capital city of Turkey. I am a volunteer for 1 month in Skopje, Macedonia.  Before I came here, I had some doubts about my adaptation process. However, as time passes I handled it with the great support of volunteers of KRIK centre. Going Macedonia and also going abroad is a completely different experience for me because before Macedonia I’ve only been to Europe, in London, once for 1 month. I would like to tell my 1-month experience step by step. The first week, I tried to learn how KRIK Center works and what is the duties of workers here. In addition, I discovered the city a little bit. At the first time, It was hard for me because of the Macedonian language. I couldn’t even read this language because of the different alphabet. Then, I took some Macedonian lessons in KRIK office and I got used to it. At least, I can read words in Macedonian and understand some basic things. As I travelled to the city, I realised that there were so many Turkish people. This fact helped me to feel home and makes the process of adaptation easier. The second week, I met with the Scout form France and we did some activities with some children who have mental disabilities. I had no experience with kind of these children so I was really excited and a little bit worried but with the help of Scout and also other volunteers from KRIK, I didn’t have much trouble. To be honest, I think I got along well with them and playing with such kids was really enjoyable for me. End of the second week, we went to Dojran and joined D festival with 2 kids. We stayed in a tent and we were just around 20 meters away from Dojran Lake. We also gave some information about KRIK to people at the festival and played some games to make people understand what social inclusion is and how disable people feel in social life. Staying at a tent, being in such a festival and informing people about a social organisation were really different and enjoyable experiences for me. The third week, just after the d festival, we went to the Summer Camp in Ohrid. We stayed again in a tent and we were just 10 meter away from the Ohrid lake. Ohrid is a really amazing place. Probably, I will visit Ohrid again one day. We stayed there for almost 1 week. During the summer camp, there were some workshops, games and outdoor activities. This summer camp was so enjoyable and instructive for me. I’ll miss it. My EVS experience was generally like this. As I said, It was so different and enjoyable adventure for me. I met many people and I made lots of new friends. Thanks  everyone here for everything and I hope we’ll meet again.

Call for participants for Youth Exchange- „World of Disabled”

CYA Krik issues a call for 7 participants and one leader for a youth exchange in Velika, Bigany.

Project description:

Our project called „The world of disabled” serves the sensitization of young people from 4 countries. The world of the disadvantaged, especially the disabled people (blind and partially sighted, wheelchair, autistic, etc.) is unknown, strange to the young people and therefore they carry prejudices against these people. Adiaphorism and disinterest are getting bigger among young people, which needs to be changed. We want to pass on the high level of tolerance and empathy during the program. The young people are sensitized with the introduction to the world of injured people. The sensitization takes place through practical knowledge, by integrating into the lives and roles of injured people. Diversity of role and situational exercises, knowledge expansion and competence development take place. A 10-day youth exchange (including the travelling days) will be implemented in Velika Begany. In the program, 8 young people and their group leaders from each country are involved, as well as a main facilitator who leads the program, altogether 37 people. The majority of the young people are disadvantaged, but non-disadvantaged participants also participate in favour of the promotion of cooperation and adaptation. During the exchange program we want to implement such activities that increase the knowledge of young people through new methods that are innovative for young people. Our aim is to gain knowledge through experience, which we achieve through practicalwork, role and situational exercises, but also the use of drama pedagogy and art pedagogy get a place. During the exchange, the young people get acquainted with the world of injured people, connecting to which they will make a play and posters. They will present these to the local community on the last day. We encourage the young people all the time to be active. In order to get to know the culture of other nations, we organize national nights. We close each day with evaluation.

CYA Krik issues a call for 7 participants and one leader for a youth exchange in Tiszaladány, Hungary.

Project description:

The aim of our project called „Intercultural hurly-burly” is to revive, familiarize and disseminate Roma traditions, crafts among young people. The idea comes from the young people who participate in the program of the Hungarian association and want an international outlook on the culture and traditions of the Roma, compared to the culture of other nations. Based on these needs, our aim is to introduce and pass on the values and traditions of the Gypsies of several countries, as well as to organize a value creation program that also gives the target group development opportunities in the fields of social responsibility and solidarity, while encouraging them to engage in community activities. With the project our aim is to strengthen the community awareness, community cooperation among young people, but also to strengthen the identity. By doing so, we also contribute to raising awareness of the fact that, together, we are able to change the situation of ourselves and our environment and our community in a positive direction and, by better understanding of each other, break down the barriers that hinder it. Through our joint activities, we contribute to the strengthening of the community, the strengthening of its supporting role and thus, in the long run, to making settlements more attractive and livable. Call for participants for Youth Exchange- „Lets stop Drugs”

CYA Krik issues a call for 7 participants and one leader for a youth exchange in Cristuru-Secuiesc, Romania.

Image result for Cristuru-Secuiesc

Project description:

We would like to implement the youth exchange Cristuru-Secuiesc city and is based on in- formal learning methods. Speaking of methods, we put stress on those parts that supports the needs and demands of the target group and are suitable for their level of knowledge. Our aim is, however, to improve their personality and through in-formal and alternative pedagogical methods we can achieve this. We follow the principles of “learning through games”, where the participants acquire knowledge not knowing that they are actually learning new things. This serves our goals and their goals will be achieved as well. During the exchange, we favour and use the Compass guide, because the guidelines in it are perfectly good for the target group’s development. But we also use project work, decesion making in small groups, debate, situational and role games and drama pedagogy as useful methods.

Main topics:

-Drug history
-International drug policy with a youth perspective
-Health-damaging behaviors
-Excursion to the area, sightseeing
-Self-knowledge, personality and its impact on drug use
